Christmas Carols Cape Town Style 2014
December 18, 2014 @ 5:00 pm - December 21, 2014 @ 10:00 pmR15 – R90
Christmas is a time of giving, merry-making, quality time with the family and Christmas Carols.
Traditionally, the word Carol was used to refer to the activity of singing and dancing in a representation of joy and praise. Carols were originally intended to be sung during all four seasons of the year, but the only tradition to have survived is the singing of carols during the Christmas period.
If you have managed have secure accommodation in Cape Town this year, then you’re in luck, as you will have the opportunity to take part in the annual Carols by Candlelight ceremony at the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens. There are many fun and exciting things to do in Cape Town. However, over the Christmas period this carols evening is definitely one of the top events to attend. The carols service will take place between Thursday the 18th and Sunday the 21st of December and it promises to be a celebration that will always be remembered. The gardens are lush, green, and vibrant and the people are merry, festive, and friendly.
Every year the garden is packed with families, friends, and couples who have arrived with picnic baskets, blankets, and a festive spirit. The event, which has been around for more than 20 years, is able to set the Christmas spirit in place, whilst simultaneously raising funds for charities around Cape Town. Upon arrival guests will receive a song sheet and a glow stick.
Guests are welcome to bring foldup chairs as long as they do not obstruct the view of those behind you. Additionally, you are welcome to bring picnic baskets or else light snacks. Cold drinks, tea, coffee and more will be available at the hospitality area. Owing to the fact that this is a family event, alcohol will only be permitted in the park as long as bottles are concealed. Also please note that the botanical garden is a UNESCO heritage site and as a result there are no bins on the premises. Visitors are therefore urged to take all litter home after the event. For more information please visit their website.
